Abstract

Study of the ascetic-mystical activities and the development of the piety during the end of the 5th/11th and beginning of the 6th/12th c., through Miftāḥ al-saˁāda of Ibn al-ˁArīf (m. 536/1141). It focuses on the evolution of the author from the asceticism towards a more developed spirituality, supporting on the letters that Ibn al-ˁArīf directed to his disciples. The structure and the content of this work are also analyzed here, beside the precedents of his teachings and his influence in later sufís as Ibn ˁArabī.
