Las artes escénicas en Guatemala. Un estudio sobre empleo, realidades y necesidades del sector

Abstract

Corroborar si las Artes Escénicas, como industria cultural en Guatemala, generan empleo, fue el punto de partida de la presente investigación. Se consideró igualmente necesario profundizar en el conocimiento del sector en su conjunto, realizando un diagnóstico que, aún a grandes rasgos, permitiera delinear la forma en que dicho sector está estructurado, qué y quiénes lo conforman, sus principales fortalezas y sus debilidades más apremiantes. A continuación se presentan los resultados y las conclusiones más relevantes de este estudio que, hasta donde se tiene conocimiento, es la primera aproximación que se hace al sector de las Artes Escénicas en la ciudad de Guatemala, desde esta perspectiva.

The starting point of this investigation was to determine whether the performing arts, as a cultural industry in Guatemala, generate employment. It was also considered equally necessary to gain a deeper understanding of the sector as a whole, by conducting an examination to identify –in broad terms– how the sector is structured, who and what comprise it, its main strengths and its most pressing weaknesses. This is followed by the results and main conclusions of the study –to the best of our knowledge, the first to conduct an examination from this perspective of the field of the performing arts in the city of Guatemala.
