Las movilizaciones a favor de una universidad en el final del franquismo. El caso de Jerez ante los orígenes de la Universidad de Cádiz

Abstract

La universidad española durante la década de los setenta se renueva no sólo con el cambio de titulaciones, planes de estudio u organización administrativa y académica de los centros, sino también con la creación de universidades. Abierta la posibilidad de contar con centro propio, algunas ciudades se apresuran en conseguir ese objetivo y tratan de reunir fuerzas y apoyos. Córdoba, Málaga y Santander lo consiguen en 1972. Otras no. Cádiz y Jerez se quedan fuera de ese primer reparto. De esas experiencias se pueden extrapolar los requisitos no explícitos necesarios para obtenerla: apoyo ciudadano, tradición universitaria y liderazgo institucional. Esos son los elementos que se avanzan en este trabajo, no cumplidos por la provincia gaditana en general y el municipio jerezano en particular.

The Spanish university during the seventies is renewed not only with the change of degrees, the study plans or administrative and academic organization of the centers, but also with the creation of universities. With the possibility of having their own center open, some cities are quick to achieve this goal and try to gather strength and support. Cordoba, Málaga and Santander get it in 1972. Others do not. Cadiz and Jerez are left out of that first cast. From these experiences can be extrapolated the non-explicit requirements needed to obtain it: citizen support, university tradition and institutional leadership. These are the elements that are advanced in this work, not fulfilled by the province of Cadiz in general and the municipality of Jerez in particular.
