Abstract
The purpose of this research is to know the difficulties found in the translation and adaptation of linguistic terminology, namely in terms such as significado-sentido, implicación-entrañamiento, y meaning-sense, implication-entailement. This is, in my opinion, an issue of great importance because of the problems and misunderstandings that may occur due to the wrong or inappropriate use of a given term in a translation. However, this problem has been hardly studied in the linguistic literature to our knowledge. In order to accomplish this research, we analyse the main features of scientific language distinguishing between word from term. Furthermore, one of the most important parts of this work consists in the development of terminological cards corresponding to the terminological uses aforementioned. Thus, having in mind the great importance and difficulty of adapting specialized texts to other languages, specifically linguistic texts in their Spanish-English adaptation, the implication of linguists in this terminological adaptation task is necessary.
