abstract = {La cuantificación de la clase propietaria en el largo proceso de la industrialización española es una  tarea  necesaria  si  se  pretende  describir  históricamente  la  compleja  estratificación  social  existente en un país que se estaba modernizando con rapidez. En este artículo se cuantifica a la clase propietaria española en régimen fiscal común en el ejercicio económico del año 1926.  El  Impuesto de Cédulas Personales reformado por el Estatuto Provincial de 1925 permite ponderar provincialmente y clasificar a los propietarios según su riqueza. Las provincias con cédulas más caras, propietarios más ricos y más desigualmente distribuidos eran Madrid, Barcelona, Cádiz y Sevilla. Las de cédulas más baratas, propietarios más pobres y más homogéneamente distribuidos eran Orense, Lugo, Soria y Teruel. Se estima que había dos millones de personas que pagaban contribuciones   directas   y   que   una mayor   riqueza   económica   implicaba   también   mayor   desigualdad social.},
abstract = {Quantifying the propertied class in the long process of Spanish industrialisation is a necessary task if we want to historically describe the complex social stratification that existed in a country that was modernizing rapidly. This article quantifies the Spanish propertied class under the common tax regime in the year 1926. The personal ID card tax, reformed by the Estatuto Provincial of 1925, allows for provincial weighting and classification of owners according to their wealth. The provinces with the most expensive ID cards, with the richest and most unequally distributed owners, were Madrid, Barcelona, Cadiz and Seville. Those with the cheapest ID cards, and the poorest and most homogeneously distributed owners were Orense, Lugo, Soria and Teruel. It is estimated that there were two million people who paid direct taxes, and that greater economic wealth also meant greater social inequality.},
