He studied the isometries between C(K) spaces, in relation to the homeomorphisms between the base spaces. Years later, Stone improved his theorem by proving it on spaces that were not necessarily metric, this is what today is known as the classical Banach-Stone theorem. Over the years, many lines of research have developed in relation to this theorem, weakening or changing hypothesis, studying isomorphisms on the ring structure of C(K) spaces, modifying the norm, considering spaces of vector-valued functions C(K,X), etc. We will focus our study on Banach and Stone's original theorems as well as on some of the advances made by other authors. %K Teorema Banach Stone %K espacios C(K) %K isometrías %K homeomorfismos metricos %~ Universidad de Cádiz
