%X This  paper  introduces the incidence of the mother  tongue  factor  on  the  lexicon  available  in  Spanish  and  Catalan in the province of Lleida. The descriptive and statistical procedures  of  the  following  analysis  measure the effect of the mother tongue factor on the lexical production  in  the  two  languages  of  the community, based on a sample  of  240  bilingual  informants  and  480  surveys.  The  results  clearly  show  that  the  quantitative  indexes  are  higher  among  the  group  that  completes  the  survey in their mother tongue.
