%X North African countries occupy an important place in China’s Grand Strategy. Commercial and investment opportunities are the main motivating factors for China. On their side,
North African countries perceive China as an economic model and a strategic and political partner.
However, China’s inclination towards political and military influence could potentially reshape
the geopolitical balances of the region. On the other hand, the escalation of Sino-American rivalry
implies significant constraints on North African countries’ foreign policy. That is why the relations
between China and North African countries are at the same time pragmatic, deepened, and cautious.
