Commercial and investment opportunities are the main motivating factors for China. On their side, North African countries perceive China as an economic model and a strategic and political partner. However, China’s inclination towards political and military influence could potentially reshape the geopolitical balances of the region. On the other hand, the escalation of Sino-American rivalry implies significant constraints on North African countries’ foreign policy.
