<link>http://hdl.handle.net/10498/40062</link>

<description>Opportunities and challenges of scholarly publishing and research dissemination in the age of digital technology and generative artificial intelligence
Bocanegra Valle, Ana María
The rapid evolution of digital technologies has had a profound impact on the ways research is developed and communicated. This article discusses the changes in knowledge production and sharing that are gradually transforming scholarly publishing and research dissemination practices with the advent of digitalisation and, particularly, generative artificial intelligence (GenAI). It first explores the impact on research dissemination as well as the opportunities and challenges faced by publishers and authors – namely, Open Science requirements, digital genres, accessibility, predatory practices, social media, and altmetrics. Then, the focus is placed on GenAI tools and their affordances for academic writing and scientific communication. Opportunities are reported in view of multilingual research, productivity, and dissemination. Several challenges pertaining to authorial voice, institutional support, and academic integrity are also examined. Insights gained suggest the need for clear guidance as well as professional development opportunities for the benefit of digitally- and GenAI-literate researchers.; La rápida evolución de la tecnología digital ha tenido un profundo impacto en la&#13;
forma en la que se desarrolla y comunica la investigación. En este artículo se estudian los cambios en la producción y el uso compartido del conocimiento que&#13;
están gradualmente transformando el panorama de la publicación académica y la&#13;
divulgación científica ante el escenario de la digitalización y, especialmente, de la&#13;
inteligencia artificial generativa (IAG). En primer lugar, se investiga el impacto&#13;
sobre la comunicación académica y se analizan las oportunidades y los desafíos a&#13;
los que se enfrentan editores y autores: en concreto, requisitos de la ciencia abierta,&#13;
géneros digitales, accesibilidad, prácticas depredadoras, redes sociales y métricas&#13;
alternativas. A continuación, se estudian las herramientas de IAG y las opciones&#13;
que ofrecen en este contexto. Se presentan sus oportunidades con respecto a la&#13;
investigación multilingüe, la productividad y la divulgación, y se tratan desafíos&#13;
relacionados con la voz autoral, el apoyo institucional y la integridad académica y&#13;
su ética. Las reflexiones finales apuntan a la necesidad de contar con orientaciones&#13;
claras y oportunidades de desarrollo profesional que faciliten la alfabetización&#13;

<description>Designing for Neonates’ Wellness: Differences in the Reverberation Time Between an Incubator Located in an Open Unit and in a Private Room of a NICU
Puyana Romero, Virginia; Núñez-Solano, Daniel; Hernández Molina, Ricardo; Fernández Zacarías, Francisco; Beira Jiménez, Juan Luis; Ciaburro, Giuseppe
Noise levels in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) significantly impact neonatal health, influencing stress levels, sleep cycles, and overall development. One critical factor in managing noise is reverberation time (T), which affects sound persistence and acoustic comfort. This study, conducted at the Universidad de Las Américas in Quito, Ecuador, examines T in two NICU room types—open unit and private room. Measurements were taken in simulated environments to assess acoustic differences between these two designs. Results indicate that T is significantly lower in private rooms compared to open units, suggesting that private rooms provide a more controlled and acoustically favorable environment for neonates. Lower T reduces excessive noise exposure, improving sleep quality and minimizing stress responses in preterm infants. Furthermore, the findings align with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), by advocating for hospital designs that enhance patient health and promote sustainable infrastructure. These results highlight the importance of integrating acoustically optimized spaces in NICUs to improve neonatal outcomes and contribute to a more sustainable healthcare system. Future research should further explore architectural solutions for noise reduction to refine NICU design standards.

<link>http://hdl.handle.net/10498/38609</link>
Algunos partidos políticos –y los medios de comunicación que &#13;
les son afines– están utilizando el aumento del número de &#13;
flujos migratorios en el mundo para ganar votos, con mensajes &#13;
populistas que incitan al odio y apelan al miedo de la población. &#13;
Su visión del mundo polarizada, condicionada por la ideología, &#13;
contribuye a una percepción negativa de las personas migrantes &#13;
en general e inmigrantes en particular, mediante discursos y &#13;
narrativas que ofrecen una visión fragmentada de los hechos y &#13;
representan únicamente una parte de la realidad. Constituye un &#13;
importante reto para los analistas críticos del discurso detectar &#13;
estas informaciones contra los inmigrantes y la existencia &#13;
de posibles bulos, empleados para manipular a la audiencia &#13;
y legitimar las medidas antimigratorias. Nuestro trabajo se &#13;
divide en dos partes: en primer lugar, se incluyen ejemplos de &#13;
discursos y narrativas a favor y en contra de la inmigración, &#13;
con vistas a proporcionar una imagen más completa de este &#13;
fenómeno. Los textos, seleccionados de diversos medios digitales &#13;
nacionales e internacionales, han sido clasificados según su &#13;
punto de vista acerca de los procesos migratorios, conforme a &#13;
las dos posturas antagónicas existentes (a favor o en contra). &#13;
En segundo lugar, se comparan los titulares publicados por &#13;
dos medios de comunicación españoles de ideología opuesta &#13;
(El País y La Gaceta de la Biosfera) para –desde el enfoque &#13;
de los estudios críticos del discurso –comprobar en qué modo &#13;
la ideología modela la selección de los contenidos que son &#13;
presentados al lector e identificar diferencias en la manera en &#13;
que se relata una misma información. Para ello, se analizan las &#13;
noticias publicadas por estos dos medios (durante el periodo &#13;
comprendido entre el 21 y el 27 de enero de 2025) al cubrir las &#13;
medidas antimigratorias mencionadas por Donald Trump en &#13;
su discurso de investidura. Los resultados reflejan que El País &#13;
se centra principalmente en descalificar al presidente, mientras &#13;
que La Gaceta de la Iberosfera trata de legitimar las medidas &#13;
de Trump minimizándolas y culpando a los inmigrantes de la &#13;
delincuencia y la inseguridad ciudadana en los Estados Unidos.; Some political parties –and the media closely linked to them– are using the increase in the number&#13;
of migratory flows in the world to gain votes with populist messages, which incite hatred and appeal&#13;
to fear among the population. Their polarised worldview, conditioned by ideology, contributes to&#13;
the negative perception of migrants in general, and immigrants in particular, through discourses&#13;
and narratives that provide a fragmented view of events and only represent one face of reality.&#13;
It constitutes an important challenge for critical discourse analysts to identify this information&#13;
against immigrants, and the potential transmission of fake news to manipulate the audience and&#13;
legitimise anti-migration measures. Our study is divided into two parts: firstly, a number of examples&#13;
of discourses and narratives for and against immigration are included, in order to provide a more&#13;
complete image of this phenomenon. The texts, selected from both national and international digital&#13;
media, have been classified depending on their point of view about migratory processes, according&#13;
to the two existing antagonistic positions (for or against it). Secondly, the headlines published by two&#13;
Spanish digital media with opposite ideologies (El País and La Gaceta de la Biosfera) are compared, so&#13;
as to verify, in the field of critical discourse studies, how ideology shapes the selection of the contents&#13;
that are presented to the reader, and detect differences in the way they report the same information.&#13;
For that purpose, we analyse the headlines published by these two digital media from 21 to 27&#13;
January 2025, while they covered the news on the anti-immigration measures mentioned by Donald&#13;
Trump in his inauguration speech. The results reflect that El País mainly focuses on disqualifying&#13;
the president, whereas La Gaceta de la Iberosfera tries to legitimise Trump’s measures by minimising&#13;
them and blaming immigrants for crimes and citizen insecurity in the United States.
