Gastric cancer (GC) remains an oncological challenge, with lymph node involvement being a major prognostic factor. Sentinel lymph node (SLN) mapping may improve staging and reduce morbidity. This study evaluated a dual-tracer technique (superparamagnetic iron oxide: SPIO and methylene blue) for ex vivo detection; assessed one-step nucleic acid amplification (OSNA) versus conventional histology; and applied OSNA-pooling analysis in non-SLN. Prospective study of patients undergoing curative gastrectomy with lymphadenectomy (2017–2022). SLNs were identified in fresh specimens by Sentimag® and/or macroscopic staining. Each lymph node was bisected, with one half analyzed by hematoxylin–eosin (H&amp;E) and the other by OSNA. Non-SLN were assessed using pooled OSNA to enhance diagnostic performance. Diagnostic performance metrics and agreement (Cohen’s κ) were calculated. Survival was estimated by Kaplan–Meier. Thirty-eight patients were included (mean age 64.3 years; 58% male); 71.1% received neoadjuvant therapy. SLN detection rate was 84.2% (32/38), with 80 SLNs identified. The dual-tracer approach demonstrated high sensitivity (93.1%) and moderate specificity (44.4%), resulting in an accuracy of 81.6%. Tracer concordance was moderate (κ = 0.42; p &lt; 0.007). OSNA showed good agreement with H&amp;E (sensitivity 80%, specificity 87%), and better performance for micrometastases. The pooling analysis evaluated 1155 non-SLN simultaneously; this novel strategy showed good concordance with conventional histology. After a median follow-up of 53 months, OSNA and H&amp;E status were associated with overall survival in exploratory analyses; however, these findings should be interpreted with caution given the limited sample size and ex vivo proof-of-concept design. Combining SPIO and methylene blue is technically feasible for ex vivo SLN mapping. OSNA complements histology, and its pooled use represents an innovative methodological approach. These results are preliminary and hypothesis-generating; larger prospective in vivo studies are required before clinical applicability can be evaluated. Dual-tracer sentinel node mapping in gastric cancer proved feasible and accurate. OSNA complemented histology, pooled analysis improved detection efficiency, and neoadjuvant therapy did not affect diagnostic performance.

<title>Determinación del riesgo de trastornos alimentarios en mujeres mayores de 50 años sometidas a régimen dietético</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/10498/40296</link>
<description>Determinación del riesgo de trastornos alimentarios en mujeres mayores de 50 años sometidas a régimen dietético
Marruffi Bonfante, Patrizia Carmen
Antecedentes: La insatisfacción corporal y los indicadores de riesgo de trastornos de la conducta alimentaria (TCA) pueden persistir en etapas avanzadas de la vida, aunque se evalúan con menor frecuencia en la atención clínica rutinaria de mujeres mayores. En mujeres de 50 años o más, el tratamiento dietético prescrito en contextos clínicos puede ofrecer una oportunidad para la identificación precoz (cribado) de indicadores de riesgo de TCA y del malestar psicológico asociado, especialmente durante la transición menopáusica. Por ello, el objetivo de este estudio fue comparar la insatisfacción corporal y los indicadores de riesgo de TCA en mujeres mayores que recibían tratamiento dietético frente a aquellas que no seguían ningún régimen dietético.&#13;
Método: Este estudio transversal comparó a mujeres de ≥50 años sin diagnóstico previo de TCA que estaban recibiendo tratamiento dietético supervisado médicamente (grupo DTG; n = 42) con mujeres que no seguían ningún régimen dietético (grupo NDG; n = 40) en Cádiz (España). Las participantes completaron el Eating Disorder Inventory-3 Referral Form (EDI-3RF), el Cuestionario de Autoconcepto AF-5, la List of Brief Symptoms (LBS-50) y el International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), además de someterse a evaluación antropométrica.&#13;
Resultados: En comparación con el grupo NDG, el grupo DTG presentó un índice de masa corporal más elevado (p = 0,002), mayor impulso hacia la delgadez (Drive for Thinness) (p &lt; 0,001) y mayor insatisfacción corporal (p &lt; 0,001), menor autoconcepto físico (p = 0,001) y puntuaciones totales más altas en el EDI-3RF (p &lt; 0,001). En el EDI-3RF, el 11,9 % del grupo DTG cumplió criterios de derivación clínica, frente a ningún caso en el grupo NDG (p = 0,031).&#13;
Conclusiones: Estos hallazgos indican que, en esta muestra de mujeres de ≥50 años, aquellas que recibían atención dietética presentaban un perfil de mayor riesgo de TCA, niveles más elevados de sintomatología psicopatológica y un menor autoconcepto físico que las mujeres que no seguían un régimen dietético. Dado el diseño transversal, los resultados deben interpretarse como asociaciones; no obstante, los circuitos asistenciales de tratamiento dietético pueden representar una oportunidad práctica para incorporar un cribado breve de preocupaciones relacionadas con la imagen corporal y de indicadores de riesgo de TCA en mujeres mayores.; Background: Body dissatisfaction and eating-disorder (ED) risk indicators can persist into later life but are less frequently assessed in routine care for older women. Among women aged 50 years and older, dietary treatment prescribed in clinical settings may provide an opportunity for early identification (screening) of ED-risk indicators and related psychological distress, particularly during the menopausal transition. Thus, the aim of this study was to compare body dissatisfaction and ED-risk indicators in older women receiving dietary treatment versus those not following a dietary regimen.&#13;
Methods: This cross-sectional study compared women aged ≥50 years without a prior ED diagnosis who were receiving medically supervised dietary treatment (DTG; n = 42) with peers not following any dietary regimen (NDG; n = 40) in Cádiz (Spain). Participants completed the Eating Disorder Inventory-3 Referral Form (EDI-3RF), AF-5 Self-Concept Questionnaire, List of Brief Symptoms (LBS-50), and the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), and underwent anthropometric assessment.&#13;
Results: Compared with NDG, DTG showed a higher body mass index (p = 0.002), higher Drive for Thinness (p &lt; 0.001) and Body Dissatisfaction (p &lt; 0.001), lower Physical Self-Concept (p = 0.001), and higher total EDI-3RF scores (p &lt; 0.001). On the EDI-3RF, 11.9% of DTG met clinical referral criteria versus none in NDG (p = 0.031).&#13;
Conclusions: These findings indicate that, in this sample of women aged ≥50 years, those receiving dietary care presented a higher ED-risk profile, higher psychopathological symptom levels, and lower physical self-concept than women not following a dietary regimen. Given the cross-sectional design, results should be interpreted as associations; nonetheless, dietary-care pathways may represent a practical opportunity to incorporate brief screening for body-image concerns and ED-risk indicators in older women.

Tissue engineering (TE) is defined as a multidisciplinary scientific discipline with the main objective to develop artificial bioengineered living tissues to regenerate damaged or lost tissues. Since its appearance in 1988, TE has globally spread to improve current therapeutic approaches, entailing a revolution in clinical practice. The aim of this study is to analyze global research trends on TE publications to realize the scenario of TE research from 1991 to 2016 by using document retrieval from Web of Science database and bibliometric analysis. Document type, language, source title, authorship, countries and filiation centers, and citation count were evaluated in 31,859 documents. Obtained results suggest a great multidisciplinary role of TE due to a wide spectrum-up to 51-of scientific research areas identified in the corpus of literature, being predominant technological disciplines as Material Sciences or Engineering, followed by biological and biomedical areas, as Cell Biology, Biotechnology, or Biochemistry. Distribution of authorship, journals, and countries revealed a clear imbalance, in which a minority is responsible for a majority of documents. Such imbalance is notorious in authorship, where a 0.3% of authors are involved in half of the whole production.

Inorganic polyphosphates (polyP) are linear phosphate polymers that play essential functions in human physiology, such as coagulation and inflammation. Despite their recognized participation in solid tumor progression, there are few data on hematolymphoid malignancies. Here, we conducted a narrative review of studies investigating polyP functions in mammalian biology, coagulation, and hematologic systems, focusing on research gaps in hematological oncology. PolyP modulates coagulation cascades, platelet activation, and cellular metabolism. In tumors, polyP has been reported to modulate immune responses and apoptosis in several experimental systems. Emerging data suggest participation in leukemic signaling and the bone marrow microenvironment. Direct evidence linking polyP to hematolymphoid neoplasms is scarce. Being biologically plausible, it represents a promising and largely unexplored area of research and an excellent opportunity for novel therapeutic approaches.
