<description>R-scripts for approximating complex coherent systems by mixed systems with IID components
Arriaza Gómez, Antonio Jesús; Bello Espina, Alfonso José; Navarro Camacho, Jorge Luis; Suárez Llorens, Alfonso
This document provides a comprehensive user guide and technical documentation for a collection of R scripts: BD.R, QP.R, MiniMax.R, and CVaR.R. These computational tools have been developed to facilitate the reliability analysis of complex coherent systems—particularly those with general dependence structures and component redundancy—by approximating their reliability functions using mixed systems with independent and identically distributed (IID) components. The guide outlines the theoretical foundations, required packages, and step-by-step usage instructions for four distinct approximation methodologies: Bernstein polynomial sequences, quadratic programming for L2 norm minimization, and linear programming for both L∞ norm and Conditional Value-at-Risk (CVaR) minimization. To ensure a clear understanding and facilitate practical implementation, the documentation includes specific use-case examples for each script, directly replicating the results analyzed in the main research article Arriaza et al. (2026). Finally, this resource provides researchers the necessary tools to apply these approximation techniques in their own reliability studies.

<title>R-script to compute a candidate to optimal replacement policy in the problem of minimal repairs allocation for systems with homogeneous components</title>

<description>R-script to compute a candidate to optimal replacement policy in the problem of minimal repairs allocation for systems with homogeneous components
Arriaza Gómez, Antonio Jesús; Navarro, Jorge; Suárez Llorens, Alfonso
The minimal repairs are a reasonable tool in many practical systems. Under this assumption a failed component is replaced by another one whose reliability is the same as that of the component just before the failure (i.e. a used component with the same age). A natural problem arises when we have a fixed number of repairs m and we need to decide (in advance) in which components (among n available) should be allocated these repairs. The Optimum_Seeker.R file is an R-script which provides, in the case of identically distributed components, a candidate to optimal replacement policy, if it exists, in terms of the usual stochastic order. Furthermore, this script provides a graphical representation of the distortion functions associated to: the system without repairing (in black), all possible strategies (in blue) and the optimal strategy suggested by the algorithm (in red).
The file Optimum_Seeker.zip contains two files: &#13;
1) Optimum_Seeker.R&#13;
2) Help file

<title>R-script to compute the dual distortion functions of systems under minimal repair.</title>

<description>R-script to compute the dual distortion functions of systems under minimal repair.
Navarro, Jorge; Arriaza Gómez, Antonio Jesús; Suárez Llorens, Alfonso
The minimal repair replacement is a reasonable assumption in many practical systems. Under this assumption a failed component is replaced by another one whose reliability is the same as that of the component just before the failure (i.e. a used component with the same age). The present R-Script let us compute the coefficients associated to the dual distortion functions associated to the repairment policies introduced in the paper entitle: "Minimal repair of failed components in coherent systems" (2017) by the same authors (submitted paper). On the other hand, this program let us compare two repair policies in the stochastic order, the hazard rate order and the likelihood ratio order. The numerical results can be saved as text file and the graphics can be also saved as pdf file in the local folder of the user.
The minimalRepair.zip contains the R-script "minimalRepair.R" and the help document entitle "ReadMe.pdf".
