El exilio de los pilotos y marinos españoles en la Unión Soviética

Abstract

Este artículo aborda algunos aspectos claves del «exilio circunstancial» de marinos y pilotos españoles sorprendidos por el final de la Guerra Civil española en la Unión Soviética. Utilizando una serie de fondos documentales conservados en archivos españoles, la memorialística existente y la bibliografía especializada, el texto ahonda en las distintas facetas de su exilio prolongado en el tiempo, como la voluntad de quedarse en el país de acogida o el deseo de abandonarlo, la participación en la «Gran Guerra Patria», la represión estalinista y el Gulag, y el proceso de repatriación a España (1939-1959).

This article is focused on some key aspects of the “circumstantial exile” of Spanish sailors and pilots caught by the end of the Spanish Civil War in the Soviet Union. Based on the Spanish archival sources, published memories and specialized bibliography, the paper delves into the various features of this prolonged exile, such as the will to remain in the host country, the persistence to leave it, the participation in the «Great Patriotic War», the Stalinist repression and the Gulag, and the repatriation process to Spain (1939-1959).
