Abstract

The stewardship of the Hospital of San Julián y San Quirce (Burgos), called by the vulgar Hospital Barrantes –body subject to the patronage of the Cathedral Chapter–, was placed under the responsability, in the curse of the XVIII century, several individuals, and household, in the end, very noticeables, representatives three very distinct periods, three clearly opposing and divergent socioprofesional and socioeconomic estates and tessitura. The serial collection of the “Scriptura y fianza de la Mayordomía de San Julián y San Quirze” for the years 1702-1797, and the accounts of that institution for the period 1715-1799, enable a critical analysis of the events, peculiarilies and problems hospital entily that specilires in surgery for civilian and military. Efforts to carry out collection (“Haber”) and payments (“Data”) Barrantes Hospital were coveted and executed by a steward representing some estates interests and “class” quite explicit and sometimes perverse.
