Edgar Allan Poe was an American writer, poet, critic and journalist. He is a central figure in
literature as he influenced deeply many writers around the world. This is the case of his horror
stories, in which he clearly demonstrates his mastery of the Dark Romantic Poetics. This project
tries to offer an innovative view about this poetics by using the sciences of the mind which were
constructing a differentiated discourse and which help to have a broader knowledge about the
issues beyond the different narratives. Since the sciences of the mind were starting to be
developed in that moment, it is interesting to better comprehend the relation they had with his
literature.
