En el río Barbate (Cádiz): control de tráfico mediante elementos móviles y sistemas de vigilancia automáticos

Abstract

En la desembocadura del rio Barbate (Barbate, Cadiz), ante el incremento de trafico de droga registrado en este punto del litoral, y atendiendo a los requerimientos de la Guardia Civil, la Direccion General de Costas ha disenado y construido una barrera para el control de trafico de embarcaciones. Esta barrera de unos 70 metros de longitud total, compuesta de modulos flotantes tipo catamaran, tiene un comportamiento flexible adquiriendo forma de catenaria bajo la accion de la corriente. Ademas, permite eventualmente el paso de embarcaciones ya que puede abrirse y cerrarse mediante un ingenioso sistema hidraulico accionado unicamente por dos trabajadores, en una maniobra total de 50 minutos como maximo de duracion. La estructura se completa con una minima instalacion en tierra, a base de muertos y vallas rigidas metalicas que garantiza el que todo el conjunto sea facilmente removible e incluso reutilizable en otro punto. El dispositivo de barrera fisica se completa con un sistema de vigilancia automatizado compuesto de camara con zoom e iluminacion de infrarrojos, cuyo control remoto se haya centralizado en las instalaciones de la Policia Local de Barbate y que potencia la faceta disuasoria del mismo.

The Coastal Protection Department has, at the request of the Civil Guard, designed and built a barrier to control the movement of vessels in the light of the increased traffic of drugs in and around the mouth of the River Barbate (Barbate, Cadiz) on the south coast of Spain. This flexible 70 m long barrier consists of catamaran type floating modules and provides a catenary form under the action of the current. The barrier also allows the passage of vessels as it may be opened and closed by an ingenious hydraulic system worked by ¡ust two operations in an operation which takes a maximum of fifly minutes. The structure is completed by a minimum amount of fixings on land and which consisst of dead-end anchors and rigid steel fencing which allow the easy removal of the entire assembly and its possible reuse at another location. The physical barrier is further supplemented by an automatic monitoring system using zoom camera and infrared lighting which is remote controlled form the local Pólice Station in Barbate and which has an additional dissuasive effect.
