Latinoamericanas evangelizando en la “otra orilla”: El caso del Convento del Espíritu Santo en el Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz)

Abstract

La Iglesia católica apostólica romana siempre ha sido objeto de estudio y preocupación por parte de los investigadores ya que ha sido una institución que ha tenido y tiene un gran poder tanto en el aspecto espiritual como en el terrenal; si bien es cierto, que su presencia e influencia en la sociedad actual es de menor relieve. En el trabajo que presentamos, tratamos de analizar, sin olvidar la perspectiva de género, el impacto que tienen las mujeres latinoamericanas en los conventos de clausura de la provincia de Cádiz tras la crisis vocacional de los últimos años, concretamente, en el Convento del Espíritu Santo en El Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz). Muchas de ellas han elegido llevar a cabo el Camino Neocatecumenal como vehículo de transmisión, predicando la conversión a la vida de Dios, y a la Iglesia en la “otra orilla” del Océano Atlántico. La investigación realizada en base a las fuentes orales, intenta abordar el fenómeno migratorio de estos movimientos poblacionales y su impronta en los conventos de clausura.

The Apostolic Roman Catholic Church has always been object of study and concern by investigators since it was an institution that had and has great power in the spiritual aspect and the earthly; While it is true that its presence and influence in today's society is less stressed. At work we are presenting, we try to analyze, without forgetting the gender perspective, the impact of Latin American women in the convents of closure of the province of Cadiz have the vocational crisis of recent years, namely in the Convent of the Holy Spirit in El Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz). Many of them have chosen to carry out the Neocatechumenal way as a vehicle of transmission, preaching conversion to the living God, and the Church on the "other side" of the Atlantic Ocean. Research carried out on the basis of oral sources, attempts to address the phenomenon of migration of these population movements and their imprint in the convents of closure.
