Abstract: Ante la realidad que presenta México con relación a los índices de lectura que reflejan una baja comprensión lectora en todos los niveles del sistema educativo, se plantea en el nivel medio superior, a manera de caso, la creación de un Círculo de lectura y Taller de expresiones con jóvenes del telebachillerato rural de Tlamatoca, en el Municipio de Huatusco, Veracruz. El proyecto tiene como objetivo contribuir al desarrollo del hábito lector y a la mejora de la comprensión a través de la lectura de textos literarios no obligatorios: a través de la lectura de textos literarios no obligatorios que, vinculados a otros textos, artes y tecnologías, provoquen en el lector una recepción placentera de la obra y el gusto por recrearla. Los resultados de la intervención ponen de manifiesto que se debe innovar para generar experiencias lectoras significativas con los jóvenes; al mismo tiempo, sugieren nuevas líneas que involucren el compromiso y la acción de la sociedad y de diversas instituciones de gobierno.According to Mexico’s reality and its poor comprehension levels in agreement with the index of Reading results which are the reasons of why there is a low reading comprehension rate in all the grade levels, as an example, it is considered the possibility of create a Reading circle and an expression workshop for the young people of the Rural High School of Tlamacota, at the Huatusco municipality, Veracruz. The main objective of this project is to support the development of the reading habit and the improvement of the reading comprehension through non-mandatory literary texts. These, in relation to other texts, arts and technologies, induce some sense of joy in the readers during their reading reception and the pleasure of recreating their writings. The results of the intervention present the necessity of innovate to look for a way to foment a meaningful reading experience with the young people; they also come up with the construction of new systems that would involve the commitment and action of the society and governmental institutions.
