Abstract

The article is a case study that describes how the communication for social change is incorporated and taught to future communicators in the journalism and film and television careers of the Institute of Communication and Image the University of Chile. Through the program review of the basic training courses in communication and specialized in both careers, thesis reports, and questionnaires to teachers, the level of education was assessed and the approach on relation to the graduation profiles proposed like a critical professional. The study demonstrates that communication for social change has become a space within the curriculum, however, it is complementary and non-core or priority of the training plans, missing out on a critical curriculum and with greater degree of social bonding.
