La Construcción del Territorio Costero Wayuu: Un Análisis Integrado de Procesos en La Guajira Colombiana

Abstract

La formulación e implantación de programas válidos de manejo costero integrado en territorios de comunidades indígenas demanda la cabal comprensión de la dimensión social y cultural de sus espacios de Vida. Aquí se indaga por la interacción social y las manifestaciones del wayuu, expresadas en la construcción y apropiación territorial, su incidencia en la vida cotidiana y la interacción entre mundos. Metodológicamente la investigación siguió los criterios procedimentales del tipo de investigación etnográfica. Se encontró que el Territorio Costero Wayuu expresa la íntima relación con la Madre Tierra, el tiempo, el mar, en estrecha conexión con su espiritualidad. Siendo frecuentes los choques con el gobierno nacional y local, donde no siempre son consideradas las prácticas simbólicas propias de los wayuu basadas en sus usos y costumbres; sumado a ello la naturaleza principalmente pública del litoral y los conflictos asociados al aprovechamiento de los recursos costeros. Se concluye que el territorio costero wayuu, construido a lo largo de sus procesos históricos, está ligado a la organización social del espacio litoral, los ancestros, mejores áreas de pesca, fuentes de agua, sus conocimientos y sus principios coherentes con su cosmovisión y comportamiento.

The formulation and implementation of valid integrated coastal management programs in the territories of indigenous communities requires a thorough understanding of the social and cultural dimension of their living spaces. Here we investigate the social interaction and manifestations of the wayuu, expressed in the construction and territorial appropriation, its incidence in daily life and the interaction between worlds. Methodologically the research followed the procedural criteria of the type of ethnographic research. It was found that the wayuu Coastal Territory expresses the intimate relationship with Mother Earth, time, the sea, in close connection with its spirituality. Interrupted by the clashes between the national and local government, where the symbolic practices of the wayuu based on their uses and customs have not always been considered; in addition to this, the public nature of the coastal zones and the conflicts associated with the use of coastal resources. It is concluded that the coastal territory built throughout its historical processes is linked to the social organization of the littoral space, the ancestors, better fishing areas, water sources, its knowledge and its principles consistent with their worldview and behavior.
