Abstract

Cada rincón de Cádiz está lleno de historia, y es que nuestra ciudad es una reliquia, una muestra del paso del tiempo. Conocer nuestra historia es tener conciencia de dónde venimos y tener claro hacia dónde vamos. En este artículo, haremos un recorrido por la historia de uno de los barrios más emblemáticos de nuestra ciudad, Puntales. Narraremos a través de la historia de nuestro barrio, la importancia que éste ha tenido en el proceso histórico de nuestra ciudad, incluso de nuestro país, y lo haremos de una forma peculiar, recorriendo sus calles, que nos guiarán en este andar histórico. Durante años, fue un barrio marginado, encerrado y aislado del resto de la ciudad. Por suerte, en la actualidad es un barrio abierto y con grandes posibilidades de crecimiento. Empecemos por reconocer el lugar y el valor que tuvo y que tiene.

Every corner of Cádiz is full of history and that is because our city is a relic, a sample ofthe passage of time. Knowing our history is being aware of where we come from and understanding where we are going. In this article we will go through the history of oneof the most emblematic quarters of our city, Puntales. We will narrate through the history of our quarter, the importance that it has had in the historical process of our city, even of our country, and we will do it in a peculiar way, walking through its streets, which will guide us in this historical journey. For years it was a marginalised quarter, locked up and isolated from the rest of the city. Luckily today it is an open quarter with great potential for growth. Let ́s start by recognizing the place and the value it had in the past and has nowadays.
