Los topónimos de origen Ṣanhāǧa en ḥassāniyya: etimología y localización.

Abstract

Los topónimos son uno de los aspectos onomásticos más significativos en el estudio diacrónico de cualquier lengua o dialecto, sin embargo, a pesar de la importancia de este aspecto lingüístico, escasean los trabajos en los dialectos árabes en general y en el caso del dialecto ḥassāniyya en particular. Ante este hecho, hemos llevado a cabo un trabajo de investigación sobre la toponimia ḥassaní del que ofrecemos en este trabajo una parte centrada en los nombres de lugar de origen Ṣanhāǧa o Ẓanāga que constituyen una buena parte de los topónimos de Mauritania y son además considerados los más antiguos porque las tribus Ṣanhāǧa fueron los primeros habitantes del territorio antes de la llegada de los Banū Ḥassān a las tierras de la actual Mauritania. Estas tribus bereberes dieron nombres a los lugares de este amplio territorio en el que perforaron numerosos pozos para poder obtener agua para sí y para su ganado. Por esta razón, los topónimos más importantes de origen Ṣanhāǧa son los nombres de pozos junto a los cuales el ḥassāniyya tomó como préstamos algunos términos geográficos, estos últimos eran usados también en la toponimia. En este artículo, se presenta un corpus de topónimos y términos geográficos de origen ṣanhāǧa repartidos por todo el territorio mauritano.

Place names are one of the most significant onomastic aspects in the diachronic study of any language or dialect, however, despite the importance of this linguistic aspect, there is little work on Arabic dialects in general and in the case of the ḥassāniyya dialect in particular. In view of this fact, this research work aims to contribute to the knowledge of Hassani toponymy, focusing especially on place names of Ṣanhāǧa or Ẓanāga origin which constitute a good part of the toponyms of Mauritania and are also the oldest ones because the Ṣanhāǧa tribes were the first inhabitants of the territory before the arrival of the Banū Ḥassān to the lands of Mauritania. These Berber tribes gave names to the places in this vast territory where they drilled numerous wells in order to obtain water for themselves and their livestock. For this reason, the most important toponyms of Ṣanhāǧa origin are the names of wells alongside which the ḥassāniyya borrowed some geographical terms, the latter of which were also used in toponymy. This article presents a corpus of toponyms and geographical terms of ṣanhāǧa origin from all over Mauritania.
