The following work had two main objectives, the first was to convert the EAIE (Sosa-Correa 2008) into an instrument that evaluates the Emotional Intelligence (EI) as a criterion, which was called EAYIE-Ad (Yucatan Self-reported Emotional Intelligence Scale for Adults). For this scale, 333 adults were evaluated with an alfa=.89, consisting four elements for each one of the three subscales: Intrapersonal Emotional Conscience (EC-Intra), Interpersonal Emotional Conscience (EC-Inter) and Emotional Regulation (ER) with reliabilities between .71 and .88. The second objective was to know the associations of the EAYIE-Ad with the “Scale for assessing positive mental health” (EESMP) by Lluch Canut (1999) and NEO PI-R on the spanish version by Cordero et al. (2008), with 261 adults evaluated. The three factors of EAYIE-Ad were negatively related with neuroticism and positively related to conscientiousness in the NEO PI-R, as well as CE-Inter and the RE with extroversion and openness; and the CE-Intra with kindness. The connections found with EESMP were problem solving and a realization; personal relationship skills with the CE-Inter; prosocial behaviour and self-control with the RE.es_ES
