Abstract
Ecocide is a profoundly innovative legal figure that has arisen in the context of extremely serious international environmental degradation, particularly in the context of climate change. It can be an extraordinarily useful tool for preventing and punishing major environmental violations. In a certain way, civil society, mainly NGOs and universities have a key role to play in defining the future of this figure, with an enormous potential for transforming the law.
