Abstract

Being able to showcase heritage collections to the public requires digital techno-logical solutions that go beyond mere digitization. On one hand, they must be able to offer sustainable solutions for the management and handling of collections that are affordable and environmentally friendly, but they must also be able to engage with the public by involving them in the recognition of their heritage. Two cutting-edge projects, SILKNOW and SeMap, aim to preserve, disseminate, and access cultural heritage using new technologies. Digital humanities allows the develop-ment of new methodological lines for art history, and different approaches and techniques of analysis can be adapted to artistic research, from geographic information systems to image analysis through artificial intelligence, 3D modeling tech-niques, data visualization, etc. With this, new paths are opening up for Art History.
