Abstract

This research aims to identify the representativeness of local culture in local media. To this end, it selects as the object of study the two main printed newspapers in Seville: Diario de Sevilla and ABC de Sevilla, to which it applies content analysis to their cultural pages between 2013 and 2018. It’s based on the theoretical perspective that assumes, from the perspective of cultural journalism, that the restriction of a publication’s concept of culture can restrict the interests of its own audience. The results show that local cultural information is permanent in Sevillian newspapers, but there are structural market influences that weaken the representativeness of local producers and artists.
