Un año electoral crucial para Europa. Normativa y jurisprudencia

Abstract

Durante el período comprendido en este Anuario (enero de 2016-junio de 2017), los avances normativos en materia de inmigración y asilo entran en una fase de inercia y muy limitadas reformas en el ámbito de la Unión Europea, centradas esencialmente en adaptar el sistema de asilo (Dublín IV) y en consolidar y dotar de mayor eficacia a los instrumentos de gestión migratoria y control de fronteras, así como de retorno de extranjeros. Al mismo tiempo que se convocaban elecciones clave en diversos países y el fantasma del populismo acechaba en muchas de ellas, la entrada de refugiados se iba reduciendo tras dos años muy intensos en este sentido.

During the period covered by this annual (January 2016 to June 2017), regulatory advances in terms of immigration and asylum entered a phase of inertia with highly limited reforms in the European Union setting, which essentially focussed on adapting the asylum system (Dublin IV) and on consolidating and giving greater effectiveness to migration management and border control instruments, as well as the return of non-nationals. At a time when key elections were called in various countries and were stalked by the ghosts of populism, the entry of refugees steadily fell after two very intense years.
