Israel en Palestina: quince meses de guerra contra la ONU y el Derecho Internacional

Abstract

Este texto, terminado de redactar el 5 de enero de 2025, pretende, de una parte, presentar de manera breve las claves de un conflicto de larga duración como ha sido el de la progresiva colonización de los territorios palestinos por parte de Israel y, de otra, señalar la gravedad de las potenciales consecuencias del comportamiento de Israel para el sistema multilateral internacional y la ONU, así como para el derecho internacional humanitario. Aunque el texto analiza los orígenes y las fases iniciales del conflicto, se centra, lógicamente, en la etapa iniciada el 7 de octubre de 2023 con el ataque de Hamás y en la respuesta israelí a ese ataque, que está comportando una destrucción física casi completa de la franja de Gaza y la muerte o desaparición de una parte significativa de su población, pero también un ataque sin precedentes a los fundamentos del derecho internacional humanitario y a la propia Organización de las Naciones Unidas.

This text, finalised on 5 January 2025, aims, on the one hand, to briefly present the main aspects of a long-standing conflict, such as Israel’s progressive colonisation of the Palestinian territories, and, on the other hand, to point out the seriousness of the potential consequences of Israel’s behaviour for the international multilateral system and the UN, as well as for international humanitarian law. Although the text analyses the origins and early phases of the conflict, it logically focuses on the stage that began on 7 October with the Hamas attack and the Israeli response to that attack, which is leading to the almost total destruction of the Gaza Strip and the death or disappear-ance of a significant part of its population, but also to an unprecedented attack on the foundations of international humanitarian law and on the United Nations itself.
