This Master’s Thesis presents the experience gained during the internship of the Master’s Degree in Integrated Water Management at the University of Cádiz. The internship was carried out in the Engineering Department of Soluciones Globales, Gestor de Proyectos S.L. (SOGEPRO) between May and August 2025, with participation in different projects covering various stages of the integrated water cycle.
In total, the intern was involved in five projects: the operation of Aljarafesa’s WWTPs and pumping stations, with tasks related to sludge thermal treatment; the sanitation of a service station in Los Palacios; the definition of the piezometric line and sludge management in the WWTP of Almodóvar del Río; the reclaimed water pipeline for agricultural irrigation in Gibraleón; and the intervention in the water supply network of the fishing port of Chipiona. These activities made it possible to apply the knowledge acquired in the master’s program, particularly in water supply, sanitation, wastewater treatment and reuse, as well as hydraulic network design.
Participation in these projects strengthened the use of tools such as Civil 3D and Presto, and provided practical experience in drafting reports, annexes, and budgets. It also highlighted the importance of adapting to changes in project scope, coordinating with clients and suppliers, and working with autonomy. Finally, all projects were linked to the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), as well as SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
