Abstract

Robert Nozick's libertarian proposal, in defense of the Minimal State and expressing his absolute rejection of the redistribution of wealth, was revolutionary when he published Anarchy, State and Utopia. In this work, in addition to examining how the State can emerge through a process of invisible hand, without the need for the existence of a social contract, the foundations of libertarianism and the legitimacy of taxes are examined, considered by Nozick as a form of forced labor incompatible with individual rights. Likewise, the evolution of the author's thought is tackled, and a critical view is provided from other liberal positions, among which that of John Rawls stands out. The research invites the reader to reflect on the role of the State in our society and what its limits should be.
