We present some of the preliminary results of the documentation and review work initiated in autumn 2023 at the archaeological site of Castillo de Doña Blanca (El Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz), corresponding to the last of the settlement’s defensive systems. The review of the constructive structures excavated in the different archaeological campaigns and the use and application of new technologies allow us to clarify, correct and put forward new hypotheses on the planning and construction of the Punic-Hellenistic defensive system, both in terms of its layout and the configuration of the different parts that conform it. The (re)fortification undertaken in the settlement during the 3rd century BC and the identification of elements of active defense, such as posterns, artillery towers and guard posts, among others, allow us to consider that Castillo de Doña Blanca became an authentic military fortress in its last phase of existence, which must be related to the progressive influence of Carthage in the south of the Iberian Peninsula.es_ES
