Abstract

This work offers a historical and devotional reflection on the deep connection between the city of Cádiz and its patron saint, the Virgin of the Rosary, from the late Middle Ages to the present day. Based on documentary, literary and testimonial sources, it examines how the Virgin Mary has accompanied the historical, social and spiritual development of the city, embodying its honorary titles of Very Noble, Very Loyal and Very Heroic. By combining this historical evidence with the symbolic and theological dimension, it is suggested that the Virgin not only represents Cadiz, but also personifies it: a wounded but resilient city, united by the faith and consolation of the Rosary, which ultimately makes it also Very Marian.
