mundo. The Cádiz Carnival takes many forms. It is impossible to single out just one,
although the ‘carnaval chiquito’ certainly stands out. A popular event, featuring folk
songs and carnival groups, it runs into the third weekend of a carnival season that spans
over a month of competitions between carnival groups and two weeks of street
celebrations. An initiative that began back in the late 1980s and is now in excellent health,
embracing technology with geolocators and welcoming different groups, including
women’s groups. A reflection, spoken aloud, on one of the many curiosities of the Cadiz
Carnival, recounted as such. Perhaps the longest-running carnival in the world.
