The decollect convent of Our Lady of the Snows was founded in 1639 by the Discalced Mercedarian friars around a hermitage on the outskirts of the town of Arcos de la Frontera (Cádiz).
As a result of the relocation of the friars in the 18th century, the French Invasion, and the confiscations of the 19th century, hardly any material remains of this monastery. However,
in this work we provide some information about its long history. However, the effigy of its
patron saint, the Virgin of the Snows, patron saint of Arcos, is preserved. An iconographic
study of this monastery is also addressed in the second part of the article.
