Abstract
Sketching enhance the visualization capabilities of new concepts for the design and development of new products. People usually make identification about the product based on the several sources of information related to the product. The importance of sketch aesthetics at different stages of the design process demonstrates that the level of finish and style drastically affects the way users perceive the design concept. This result could have strong implications in the field of industrial design from the perspective of proposal submission and design feedback obtained by clients, and end users. In this sense, the present work focuses on carrying out a study with users for the evaluation of the emotional response of product concepts through the use of advanced sketches. In this evaluation process, the perception of the design properties is analysed from the point of view of the affective response, as well as the loss of design information based on the sketching techniques. The analysis of results showed that digital sketch techniques induce changes in the emotional responses of users in new product concepts displayed. Regarding the capture of information from users about the product concept in the different representation techniques, significant differences were observed in the representation of product attributes.
