Some non-linearmodels such as the Gazes-Herman Rothery model were already known to be chaotic. We considerthe linear Forward and Backward Control tra c model for an infinte number of cars on a track. Weshow the existence of solutions with a chaotic behaviour by using some results of linear dynamicsof C0-semigroups. In contrast, we also analyze which initial configurations lead to stable solutions.
