Titanium alloys are widely used in many industries of strategic interest as aerospace sector, in the manufacturing of parts with a good strength to weight ratio. These alloys usually show a poor machinability, due to their low thermal conductivity and modulus of elasticity, which may increase the cutting temperature and make the tool breakage more likely. This paper presents a methodology for the tool wear monitoring by using the analysis of cutting forces during dry machining of Titanium alloys.
