The study delves into thechallenges confronted by a partially blind student with substantial sight loss and no priorBraille training when attemptingtraditional written English language exams. The identified obstacles encompass difficulties innavigating continuous text withtext-to-speech (TTS) software,the reliance on images, and theimpact of time constraints. Theresearch underscores the effectiveness of adaptations madeto the exam format to addressthese challenges and enhanceaccessibility and inclusivity. Thefindings reveal favourable outcomes for the student’s performance and well-being during theadapted exam. The study stresses the significance of longitudinal studies to monitor the progress and language proficiencydevelopment of visually diverselearners over time. Such investigations would enable comparisons with non-disabled peers,shedding light on the impact ofexam accommodations on learning outcomes.
