Aportaciones de Adolfo de Castro a los fastos calderonianos de 1881

Abstract

A partir de las reivindicaciones de Calderón por parte de la élite conservadora, a principios del siglo xix, el poeta pasará a representar la idea de la España imperial, del catolicismo contra-reformista, y de aquellas cualidades, como el honor o la honra, que definirían lo «auténtico hispano» como representante de una «edad de oro» pre-borbónica a la que se aspirar o volver, constituyendo así un tópico reincidente que será exaltado en diferentes momentos del siglo. El propósito de este trabajo es analizar la participación de Adolfo de Castro en los actos calderonianos el año de 1881 con motivo del segundo centenario de su muerte.

After the vindications of Calderón de la Barca on behalf of the conservative elite, in the early nineteenth century the poet would become the stereotipe representative of imperial Spain, the counter-reformist catholicism, as qualities of honor or virtue, and thus defining the authentic Hispanic feeling as representation of a «pre-borbon golden age» which should be aspired or return, a topic which would repeat in different moments of the century. The intention of this work is to analyse the participation of Adolfo de Castro as a member of this intellectually conservative group, in the acts of tribute paid to the illustrious author in 1881, on the occasion of the second centenary of his death.
