Los Diputados del Común y el Síndico Personero del ayuntamiento de Palma (1766-1808).

Abstract

La reforma municipal de Carlos III, precedida por el motín de Esquilache sucedido en Madrid durante los meses de marzo y abril de 1766, fue el principal intento para resolver los graves problemas que padecía la administración local. La reforma alteró la estructura municipal al introducir a representantes del común y reducir el poder de los regidores (nobleza-oligarquía local). Este trabajo analiza las figuras del Diputado del Común y Síndicos Personeros del ayuntamiento de Palma en el periodo comprendido entre 1766 y 1808, el sistema de elección, el desempeño de sus funciones, la relación con otros cargos municipales y el listado completo de los Diputados y Síndicos palmesanos.

The municipal reform of Carlos III, preceded by the mutiny of Esquilache riots happened in Madrid during the months of March and April 1766, was the main attempt to resolve the serious problems which suffered from the local administration. The reform altered the municipal structure by introducing representatives of the joint and reduces the power of the local nobility in favour of society middle classes. This work analyzes the figures of the «Diputados del Común» and «Síndico Personero» of Palma City Council in the period 1766-1808, the system of election, the performance of its functions, the relationship with other municipal charges and the complete listing of members and «Diiputados del Común» and «Síndico Personero» of Palma.
