En el artículo se analiza la producción escultórica y retablistica del escultor de
origen flamenco Roque Balduque (f. 1561) especialmente en la provincia de Cádiz, así como
una imagen de San Juan Bautista que pudo formar parte del desaparecido retablo mayor de
la iglesia de San Juan Bautista de Chiclana de la Frontera (Cádiz). Esta obra es comparada
con otras obras del artista localizadas en las actuales provincias de Cádiz y Sevilla. In the following essay, the production of the Flemish sculptor Roque
Balduque (d. 1561) is analyzed with special focus on his works located in the province of
Cadiz. Additionally, it includes the study of a newly found wooden sculpture of St. John the
Baptist that could have been part of the disappeared main altarpiece of the St. John the
Baptist parish in Chiclana de la Frontera (Cadiz). This piece is compared to other works of
the artist in the provinces of Cadiz and Seville.
