AIDA. 5th conference proceedings

Abstract

This volume contains the Proceedings of the Fifth Conference of AIDA, (Association Internationale de Dialectologie Arabe), which was held in Cadiz (Spain), at the Facultad de Filosofía y Letras, University of Cadiz, between the 25th and the 28th of September 2002. The forty seven papers included here offer a comprehensive reflection of the efforts displayed and the conclusions reached at the Conference, through the various presentations and discussions (both formal and informal) on a wide range of current aspects of the multiple varieties of Arabic. About seventy experts took part in the forum which provided opportunities to update information on areas of specialization, share views, work mediods and projects. All this, it should be emphasized, took place in a very friendly atmosphere, which allowed dialectologists to make contact and establish academic relations with colleagues from all over the world, thereby developping solid academic exchange networks as well as forming ties of friendship.
