Abstract
El artículo analiza las medidas adoptadas por los ministros de Carlos II para solucionar la crisis económica y financiera de la Monarquía Hispánica en las últimas décadas del siglo XVII ocasionada por varios factores: inflación de los precios, desarrollo de epidemias y de hambrunas, reducción del consumo y la inversión, endeudamiento de la hacienda real y balanza de pagos negativa. Una situación devenida, además, en el marco de una coyuntura internacional poco favorable para los intereses españoles por la pujanza de Francia y el deseo de Luis XIV de engrandecer su reino a costa de territorios en los Países Bajos.
 
The article analyses the measures taken by the Ministers of Charles II to solve the economic and financial crisis of the Spanish monarchy in the last decades of the 17th century caused by several factors: inflation of prices, development of epidemics and famine, reducing consumption and investment, debt of the Royal hacienda and negative balance of payments. A linked situation, moreover, in the framework of an international climate unfavourable to Spanish interests for the strength of France and the desire of Louis XIV of enlarge his Kingdom at the expense of territories in the Netherlands.
