El siglo de Moratín. Recepción escénica y crítica del teatro de Leandro Fernández de Moratín entre 1808 y 1928

Abstract

El presente artículo analiza la fortuna escénica del teatro de Moratín en España durante todo el siglo xix y las primeras décadas del siglo xx. A pesar de las prohibiciones, las comedias moratinianas se representaron en la época romántica con notable éxito. Posteriormente su presencia en los escenarios fue menor, pero siempre estuvo defendido por algunos grandes nombres de la escena, entre ellos los responsables de la formación de los actores españoles. Igualmente, a pesar de algunas notas discordantes, la valoración crítica de su teatro fue muy alta en esta época.

The present paper analyses the scenic fortune of Moratín’s theatre in Spain throughout the 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century. Despite the prohibitions, Moratín’s comedies were performed in the Romantic Era with remarkable success. Afterwards, the production of his plays became less frequent, but Moratín was always defended by some of the most important theatre figures, including those responsible for the training of the Spanish actors. Similarly, apart from some discordant note, the critical appraisal of his theatre was very high at that time.
