Tejido y rito en espacios de culto íberos: las fusayolas como objeto de estudio

Abstract

La cultura material relacionada con la fabricación de tejido, fusayolas o pesas de telar en su mayor parte, está bien documentada en el registro arqueológico de los diferentes santuarios y espacios de culto iberos. Sin embargo, la interpretación funcional, simbólica e incluso social de estas piezas sigue resultando difícil ya que no existen aún estudios específicos que traten estos aspectos de forma global y sistemática. Todavía no se puede precisar si, en estos contextos, tenían un significado ritual como ofrenda o si, por el contrario, eran instrumentos de la cadena operativa del “tejido sagrado” ofrendado a la divinidad. Posiblemente ambos significados convivieron, todo ello vinculado al mundo de la feminidad. Asimismo, es necesario delimitar su contexto de uso, teniendo en cuenta las características del propio espacio de culto o depósito votivo, su cronología y su asociación a rituales concretos (ritos fundacionales, ritos de paso, ritos de fecundidad, etc.). Únicamente desde un estudio específico, partiendo de una escala local o regional, se podrá definir el papel de este tipo de registro material en la ritualidad ibera. Por esta razón, en este trabajo, se propone un estudio específico en torno a estos elementos para obtener más información sobre culto y prácticas sociales en la protohistoria ibérica. Este estudio recoge un estudio preliminar sobre unos objetos específicos como son las fusayolas, como punto de partida y exposición de intenciones de lo que será mi investigación futura.

The material culture related to the manufacturing of fabric, fusayolas or loom weights, predominantly, is well documented in the archaeological register of the different iberan sanctuaries and cult spaces. However, the functional, symbolic or even social interpretation of these pieces remains a mistery because there have not been any specific researches that study these issues in a global an systematic way. We still do not know if it, in these contexts, had a ritual meaning like an offering or, if instead, they were instruments of the operative line of the “sacred fabric” offered to divinity. It is very probable that both meanings coexisted, all this was linked with the femenine world. Also, it is necesary to define the context of use, considering the characteristics of the cult space or votive deposit, the chronology and the association to specifics rituals (rites of passage, founding rites, fertility rites, etc.). Solely from a specific research, starting from a local or regional scale, we could define the rol of this kind of material register in the iberian rituality. Due to this situation, we propouse a specific research around these elements to obtain more information about cult and social practices in iberian protohistory. Therefore, this article contains a preliminary research about specifics objetcs such as fusayolas, as a starting point and exposure of intentions of what my future research will be.
