Una inconfesa novela de la Ilustración: Cartas marruecas, del Coronel Cadalso

Abstract

En este trabajo se estudian las Cartas marruecas, compuestas por el Coronel Don José Cadalso y Vázquez, como novela ilustrada. Se traza el contexto novelístico en el que se encuadran. Se identifican las tradiciones narrativas que confluyen en la obra y explican la composición que ésta ha recibido: Cervantes y el Quijote, las novelas epistolares, las ficciones autobiográficas, los libros de viajes, las novelas satíricas de costumbres... Se explican las circunstancias de su creación y de su recepción primera. Se analiza su texto, prestando atención al trazado de su acción, los recursos utilizados, el estudio de sus personajes, los contenidos que aborda, la tesis que el autor desea transmitir a sus receptores, el problema de su costumbrismo.

In this paper there are studied Cartas marruecas, composed by the Colonel Don José Cadalso y Vázquez, as a novel of the Enlightenment. The novelistic context that fall is plotted. The narrative traditions that converge in the text and explain the composition that it has received are identified: Cervantes and Don Quixote, the epistolary novels, autobiographical fictions, travel books, the satirical novels of customs… The circumstances of its creation and its first reception are explained. Its text is analyzed, paying attention to the layout of its action, the resources used, the study of their characters, the contents that addresses, the thesis that the author wishes to convey to their receptors, the problem of their local customs.
