Abstract

This Bachelor’s Thesis presents the conceptual design of an orbital plat- form for SmallSat-type satellites. First, a study of the current market is conducted, highlighting the opportunities and growth projection of the SmallSat segment for the coming years. Next, a theoretical framework is developed, introducing key concepts that the reader needs to understand the proposed design. To address the increasing demand for space tech- nology projected in the coming years, the project focuses on a modular solution capable of adapting to diverse needs. This involves the study and design of the platform’s power, attitude control, propulsion, and struc- tural subsystems. These subsystems have been developed to meet the technical specifications required to operate in Low Earth Orbits, enabling SmallSats to fulfill their mission within the estimated orbit and lifespan. Additionally, the necessary calculations are included to ensure the techni- cal feasibility of the project and its integration with the Miura 5 launcher from the Spanish company PLD Space. The results of this thesis propose an innovative orbital platform solution to facilitate small satellites access to space and meet the growing demand expected in the coming years.
