Abstract

La Universidad de Cádiz, que se creó por ley de 30 de octubre de 1979, tiene unos antecedentes de Estudios Superiores que se remontan a 1748, cuando se estableció, en el Hospital Real de la ciudad, el Real Colegio de Medicina y Cirugía de la Armada. Ya en el siglo XIX se establecieron enseñanza de Magisterio y Comercio, lo que, junto con otras instituciones docentes, alguna de vida efímera, como una Facultad de Farmacia, dotan al Archivo de la UCA de una rica documentación que no se limita a la generada por la propia universidad.
