Abstract

In an educational environment in constant evolution, problem-based learning (PBL) stands as an innovative educational strategy that promotes the academic development of the student. PBL is characterized by its student-centered approach, where participants take an active role in constructing their own knowledge. The objective of this study revolves around the evaluation of the impact of PBL on the development of key competencies, such as critical thinking, ethical decision making, active learning, teamwork and collaboration skills, research skills, self-reflection, and digital skills in a university context. The research was developed under a non-experimental design, with a quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional approach. The results obtained provide solid empirical evidence on the ability of problem-based learning to promote the development of competencies in university students.
