Interpretación telefónica y presencial chino-español. Estudio de caso

Abstract

Remote interpreting has experienced an exponential increase in its use in this century, intensified by the health pandemic that occurred with COVID-19. The aim of this study is to investigate telephone interpreting based on the experience of the interpreters themselves in the Chinese-Spanish language combination. The study is based on a mixed methodology based, on the one hand, on surveys and, on the other hand, on the analysis of real conversations. The study subjects are professional interpreters with experience in both face-to-face and telephone interpreting. The study reveals that telephone in-terpreting is a more recent modality and interpreters and users are not yet very familiar with this type of service and tend to have some difficulties.KEYWORDS: remote interpreting; telephone interpreting; face-to-face interpreter; telephone interpreter; Chinese-Spanish.

La interpretación remota ha experimentado un aumento exponencial en cuanto a su uso en este siglo, intensificada por la pandemia de COVID-19. El presente estudio se centra en la interpretación telefónica (IT), una forma de interpretación remota que está ganando gran popularidad en el mercado de la interpretación. El objetivo de este estudio es investigar la IT a partir de la experiencia de los propios intérpretes en la combinación lingüística chino-español. El estudio se basa en una metodología mixta basada, por un lado, en encuestas y, por otro lado, en el análisis de conversaciones reales. Los sujetos de estudio son intérpretes profesionales con experiencia en ambas modalidades de interpretación, presencial y telefónica. El estudio revela que la IT es una modalidad más reciente y los intérpretes y usuarios no están aún muy familiarizados con este tipo de servicio y suelen tener algunas dificultades.

L’interprétation à distance a connu une augmentation exponentielle de son utilisation au cours de ce siècle, intensifiée par la pandémie sanitaire qui s’est produite avec COVID-19. L’objectif de cette étude est d’étudier l’interprétation téléphonique à partir de l’expérience des interprètes eux-mêmes dans la combinaison linguistique chinois-espagnol. L’étude repose sur une méthodologie mixte basée, d’une part, sur des enquêtes et, d’autre part, sur l’analyse de conversations réelles. Les sujets de l’étude sont des interprètes professionnels ayant une expérience de l’interprétation en face à face et par téléphone. L’étude révèle que l’interprétation téléphonique est une modalité plus récente et que les interprètes et les utilisateurs ne sont pas encore très familiers avec ce type de service et ont tendance à avoir quelques difficultés.
